About the Conference:
The International Conference on INformation Technology ENablers for Persons with Disability (INTEND 2.0) Empowering Divyangjan (Persons with Disabilities) with Assistive Technologies was held on 19th and 20th September 2025 organised by The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) in association with JERUSALEM COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING (An Autonomous Institution, Affiliated to Anna University) and National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan) Dept. of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) (NIEPMD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. The organizing committee has worked in synchronism with the coordinators of the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (Students Forum of JCE), to make the conference alive, with a spectrum of topics that uses technology for enhancing the lives of the physically challenged. The international Conference, seeks to develop a professional forum to promote the development of a supportive community of experts and spirits of collaborative research. It also provides a supportive setting for feedback on current research and guidance on future research directions. The event started a welcome speech by Shri. N.Sridharan, IETE Chairman, Chennai Centre, followed by the Presidential address by Shri Sunil, President, IETE HQ, New Delhi and Inaugural address & release of Souvenir by Chief Guest Padma Shri Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Institute Professor, IIT Madras, special address by Dr.Shiv Kumar, Vice President, IETE HQ, New Delhi, Dr. K.Gnaneshwar Rao, Zonal Mentor (South), IETE HQ, New Delhi, Dr Ramesh S, Principal, Jerusalem College of Engineering, Chennai. There were key note address by prominent delegates from National and International Level, to name few, Dr. Hamid Abdi, Professor & Director, Post Graduate Studies, School of Engineering, Deakin University, Australia, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Muthu, Professor, VIT Mauritius, Dr.E.Padmini, President, IABMS, Smt R Anandhanayaki, Rehabilitation Officer, (AIL), NIEPMD. More than 378 participants from various colleges presented their research findings in various technological domains that empower the disabled. Two online tracks and 6 offline tracks were conducted as parallel sessions where the participants presented unique ideas on Assistive Devices, AI, Machine Learning & Cognitive Support, Smart Environments & IoT for Accessibility aimed at assisting people with disabilities, showcasing remarkable innovation and 8 best papers (one per each track) were awarded with best paper award with a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- along with 3 Months free internship in KRUTANIC SOLUTIONS, approved by AICTE and ISO. Across two days, INTEND 2.0 brought together eminent speakers, researchers, clinicians, rehabilitation experts, policymakers, and technologists. The event reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Divyangjan through assistive technologies and inclusive innovations.
