Preface

Analytical Chemistry plays a vital role in modern science and technology by providing reliable methods for qualitative and quantitative analysis in research, industry, medicine, environmental monitoring, and quality control. Understanding the principles and applications of analytical techniques is therefore essential for students pursuing Chemistry and allied sciences.

This book, “Analytical Chemistry,” has been carefully prepared to meet the academic requirements of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The content has been presented in a simple, systematic, and student-friendly manner with the aim of strengthening both theoretical understanding and practical knowledge.

The book consists of five chapters covering important areas of analytical chemistry:

• Unit I discusses Laboratory Hygiene and Safety, emphasizing safe laboratory practices, handling of chemicals, first aid, and Treatment for specific poisons.
• Unit II focuses on Data Analysis, including accuracy, precision, statistical treatment of analytical data, and error analysis.
• Unit III explains different Thermal Analysis techniques and their applications in material characterization.
• Unit IV presents the principles and applications of various Chromatography Techniques used for separation and analysis.
• Unit V deals with Gas Chromatography and SEM Analysis, highlighting instrumental methods widely employed in modern analytical laboratories.

Special care has been taken to present the subject matter in clear language with appropriate illustrations, examples, and concise explanations. We hope that this book will serve as a useful resource for students, teachers, researchers, and competitive examination aspirants.
